La troupe de théâtre des Sans l'sou a été la première troupe « sociale » de productions théâtrales à Amos, après l'époque des troupes « scolaires ». Le Théâtre des Sans l'sou a offert un programme au caractère moderne, nettement dominé par les oeuvres québécoises contemporaines. L'organisme comptait parmi ses membres le dramaturge Jean Barbeau qui a signé la mise en scène pour deux de ses oeuvres: La coupe Stainless en 1973, dont c'était la création, et Le chemin de Lacroix en 1974. La troupe est inactive depuis 1987.
