Biographical history
Né le 9 février 1912 à St-Urbain, comté de Charlevoix, Antonio Simard est le fils de Almas Simard et de Délima Duchesne. Employé au ministère de la Voirie de 1933 à 1938, il travaille par la suite comme garagiste de 1938 à 1941, après quoi il prend en charge les opérations de la compagnie Simard & frères. En 1963 il fait construire le Motel Chez Tony. Intéressé au développement de la région, il contribue à plusieurs mouvements d'ordre religieux, social et sportif.
Le 18 septembre 1935 à Amos, il épouse Étiennette Grenon. Antonio Simard est décédé à l'été 1998.

Custodial history
Le fonds a été déposé par Diane Simard, fille d'Antonio, en février 1999.
Scope and content
Le fonds comprend principalement des documents relatifs à la construction de la route Amos-Matagami au début des années 1960. Il est complété par une série de photos sur le pavillon d'Haïti à l'Expo 67, dont Antonio Simard était un des promoteurs.
